ACLS Renew Certification- The Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ACLS renew class is for any healthcare provider who has previously been a certified American Heart Association ACLS Provider. After becoming certified, it is necessary to complete an ACLS refresher class every two years in order to maintain the certification. This course covers all updates and changes made to the treatment algorithms by the American Heart Association. These changes and updates are based on the most current science research surrounding emergency cardiovascular care.

Benefits of an ACLS Renew Program:
        I.            Students renewing their ACLS skills will not only learn about changes, they will rotate through skills stations for hands on practice of airway management, CPR with an AED, and management of cardiac arrest cases as the team leader. All of the ACLS treatment algorithms will also be reviewed. The ACLS recertification class is an instructor led course. Students will have time for questions and answers at each skills station. The content is delivered through a combination of lecture, video, and hands on practice.

      II.            After the ACLS review, and hands on practice, students will each have a chance to lead their team in a mega code, manage a respiratory arrest case, demonstrate skills in 1 rescuer CPR with an AED, and complete a multiple choice written exam. Once all of the above have been successfully completed, students will be issued a new ACLS Provider certification card that will be valid for another two years.

    III.            All students attending an ACLS recertification class will need to bring their completed ACLS pre course self-assessment and the most current edition of the American Heart Association ACLS Provider manual. If the student does not have a current edition of the manual, one can be added to the student’s shopping cart at check out. The approximate length of this class is 6-8 hours.

    IV.            Detailed instructions on how to prepare for the ACLS recertification class will be outlined on the confirmation email sent to students after they have enrolled.
